A photo party instead of trivia

Summer Vibes was a summer kick-off party in my flat at the end of June 2025, and my first quiz night. We played with three teams over three rounds of photo challenges. The photos got funnier every round, and the Friendly Host ranked them on the big screen.

Before the party

Send a flyer and a short message to the people you want there, in the group chat or one by one. Both need the date, the start time and the address.

Set the scene

Put lemon decorations everywhere and put on a relaxed playlist. Before the evening, decide which parts of your flat guests can use.

Almost every decoration came off my 3D printer. The straw name tags were the highlight. Nobody mixed up glasses, and guests who hadn't met learned each other's names faster.

I kept it to two summer cocktails, so shopping was easy and guests had a short menu. The Limoncello Spritz was the favourite.

Tech setup

The TV shows the prompts and every team's photo. Each team takes and uploads its photos on one phone.

  • Connect a laptop to the TV and open the presenter view
  • One phone with a camera per team
  • Share the Wi-Fi password so every team can join Bonus points if you prepare it as a QR code

The challenges

Teams can use anything they find in the rooms you opened up. That freedom makes the game collaborative, and it is why everyone had such a good time.

Each round offers three prompts, and every team picks the one it wants to shoot and uploads its photo. The photos appear on the TV, the Friendly Host ranks them, and the top three score points.
