Creative quiz rounds for a night with friends

Give everyone a break from remembering facts. In this round, teams invent a short answer to the same ridiculous brief, then enjoy the reveals together. A good answer fits the prompt and takes it somewhere unexpected.

How to run this round

  1. Pick four to eight prompts. Start with something short, such as naming an invention, before asking for a pitch.
  2. Read the same prompt to every team. Ask for one answer per team and keep it to a sentence or two.
  3. Reveal the answers together after time runs out. Leave room for the reactions before moving on.

8 prompts to borrow

  1. Invent a name and slogan for an umbrella that only works indoors.

    Example: The Drizzle Denier — weather protection for people who already have a roof. The slogan should explain the joke.

  2. Write the opening line of a detective story about a missing biscuit.

    Example: By the time I reached the tin, all that remained was a crumb and a very nervous cup of tea.

  3. Give your team a debut album title inspired by how tonight is going.

    Example: Confidently Incorrect. Reward a title that captures something happening in the game.

  4. Pitch the least useful superpower in one sentence.

    Example: I can predict exactly when the toast will land, but never which way up.

  5. Name a luxury hotel for garden snails and describe its best amenity.

    Example: The Slime Seasons, featuring an all-night lettuce buffet. Both the name and amenity should fit the guests.

  6. Write a dramatic film tagline for the task of taking out the bins.

    Example: One bag. Three flights. No second chances. Keep the stakes absurd and the task recognizable.

  7. Invent an award your sofa would win and write its acceptance speech in one sentence.

    Example: Best Supporting Cushion — I could not have done it without everyone sitting on me.

  8. Give a very ordinary sandwich a villain origin story in two sentences.

    Example: They left him at the back of the fridge. Now he wants the whole kitchen to feel the chill.

Answers and scoring

There is no factual answer key. For a paper round, agree on a simple rubric before play: fit to the brief, originality and wit. In exquizme, the AI judge ranks creative answers and the top three receive points. Its choices are subjective; the fun is in the reveals as well as the score.

Make it your own

For a gentler first round, use just the album title and hotel name prompts. For a finale, ask teams to pitch their indoor umbrella aloud after the answers are revealed. Treat the pitch as part of the entertainment, without promising extra in-app points.
